I went to Nimu Majiang Township, over 5,000 meters above sea level, to teach as a volunteer. My friend's father is a veteran local teacher. The photo is of Uncle taking us to visit a snow mountain beside the school. He said the glacier beneath the snow mountain had long disappeared, and that the sacred mountain had now become a suicide site, no one knows exactly when. The township is remote, rarely visited by people. Uncle gazes at the old companion who has accompanied him for most of his life, looking at the most striking scenery in his world.
