I was walking around the Copan building in downtown São Paulo when this man crossed the frame between harsh sunlight and deep shade. The ladder farther back happened to line up just in front of him, which gave the scene a small echo of a classic street photograph I had in mind. I pressed the shutter before he disappeared into the shade.
